RUNGSTED HAVN / DENMARK

Information about the Marina
The Marina in Rungsted Havn is situated 20 km north of Copenhagen. The harbour is well breakwater protected. The harbour entrance is 40 metres wide. With strong northerly winds, however, there can be water movement in the marina. Denmark is known to have strong winds reaching more than 100 km/h.

History - The DualDocker in Denmark
Between October 2008 and June 2010 the DualDocker was put to the test in Rungsted Havn. Kjeld Søderlund - a retired Senior Commander in the Royal Danish Navy - was testing the DualDocker with his 35' motor yacht 'SMUT', a Norwegian Marex. In spite of winds reaching 35 knots and gusts up to 50 knots, 'SMUT' rests calm in the harbour. With strong winds like that, spring lines - tied from midship to the DualDocker's harbour adapter - provided extra security. The DualDocker's shock absorbers and the spring lines absorbed wind and wave energy. The DualDocker's two arms prevented the yacht from swinging. Kinetic energy was reduced to a minimum.

Summary
Kjeld was very satisfied with the DualDocker's performance. The yacht rested calmer than before, even with heavy gusts hitting it. Easy docking also played a role for him since with the help of the DualDocker it was easier for him to tie up his yacht on his own - a challenging task without the DualDocker. Getting on board was also easier since the distance stern - pier stays the same all the time and it only takes a small step to master it. No climbing, no jumping, no ladder needed. No more bow lines means no stress when leaving the berth: Just disengage the two arms and GO !

In Memory of Kjeld Soderlund
In October 2009, Kjeld Soderdund sadly passed away and joined his deceased wife in a better place.
Over the months, Kjeld had become a friend and we are deeply sorry over our loss.
Kjeld, may you have found peace in the eternal sea which you and your wife loved above all.

Testimonial
Henrik Soderlund, Kjeld's son, about the DualDocker:
"My dad, Kjeld Soderlund, Naval Commander and sailor his whole life, has been testing DualDocker on a Marex 350. We have had no problems at all in that year of test in all conditions. We have had safety lines on the bow and mid ship, but they have never been in use.
What we noted is the smooth way SMUT is laying in the dock. So it is worth to do the training, to dock the boat into the DualDocker." 10.04.2010
