Information about the Marina
The marina in Lo Pagan is situated 25 km east of Murcia and 70 km south of Alicante. Lo Pagan is surrounded by a beautiful natural bay, the so called “Mar Menor”. Compared to Denmark, the occurring winds are not that strong, however, the waves rocking the yachts in the marina, together with the daily southerly thermal wind, are challenging. The “Mar Menor” is about 20 km long, therefore, with a southerly wind, waves have got plenty of distance to build up. The harbour is not breakwater protected, therefore those waves are causing the yachts to rock and the ropes to groan quite considerably. A harbour, not breakwater protected is quite uncommon, however, a perfect test for the DualDocker. Because even yachts in the most protected marina might have to endure waves during the storm sometimes. The movement these waves can cause are comfortably absorbed by the DualDocker.
History - The DualDockers in Lo Pagan
In January 2009 the first DualDocker (Generation E) was installed in Lo Pagan, securing the “Geminis”, a 35' sealiner. It has since been changed to a system of 'Generation G). The “Geminis”' is berthed close to the harbour entrance and therefore one of the first to be hit by the waves. The DualDocker even managed storms up to 80 km/h.
In May 2009 two more systems of the DualDocker (Generation G) were installed. The new DualDocker is even more stable. The experiences gained with numerous test DualDockers and the owners' feedback and suggestions have resulted in the latest version of the DualDocker. The new systems have been installed for the following yachts:
“Rosarito” - a Bavaria 35. She is also berthed close to the harbour entrance and one of the first to feel the waves.
“Basol” - a Euromare 43. The 25 ton aluminium motor yacht has got a surface area of approx. 25 m² to catch beam winds. This heavy and big yacht rests calm and comfortable with the DualDocker.
